Bardd a nofelydd modernaidd eithriadol yw Lynette Roberts, gyda’i delweddaeth fyw a’i harbrofi anesmwyth. Mae ei hysgrifennu’n dangos hiraeth dwbl – am Gymru, ac am yr Ariannin a adawyd ganddi. Mae ei barddoniaeth yn symud yn barhaus rhwng lliwiau, mytholegau a thirweddau’r ddwy wlad, a thrwy wneud hynny, mae’n codi cyfres o gwestiynau pwysig: ble, a beth, yw cartref? Sut ydym ni’n preswylio mewn amser a lle penodol? Am y tro cyntaf, yn y gyfrol hon o ysgrifau ceir rhywfaint o’r ymchwil pwysicaf ar waith Roberts i ymddangos ers ailgyhoeddi ei chyfrol Collected Poems yn 2005. Gydag amrywiaeth o ysgolheigion blaenllaw’n cyfrannu, mae pob ysgrif yn ceisio ‘gosod’ Roberts mewn rhyw ffordd, gan ddadansoddi’r amgylcheddau y mae ei hysgrifennu’n ymateb iddynt a cheisio datod ei sgeiniau o gysylltiadau cenedlaethol, diwylliannol a gwleidyddol sy’n cydblethu. Gyda’i gilydd, mae’r rhain yn nodi pynciau allweddol yng ngwaith anniffiniol, hiraethus Roberts, gan ddiffinio ei chyfraniad gwreiddiol i ddiwylliant llenyddol yr ugeinfed ganrif.
